The original documents for the CCSS ELA standards can be downloaded from http://www.corestandards.org/the-standards/download-the-standards. Teachers need the standards document which has an introduction to explain the background of these standards. Also, save Appendix A, Appendix B, Appendix C. Appendix A provides valuable research and information on text complexity, vocabulary, writing, and foundational skills. Appendix B contains sample performance tasks and text exemplars in each grade level. Appendix C has the writing samples for grade levels.
PPT used for training that includes slides from modules from www.achievethecore.org

- Common Core Curriculum Mapping Project - http://www.commoncore.org/ - The mapping project (for ELA only) was not a part of the Common Core State Standards Initiative but partially funded through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Common Core’s Curriculum Maps in English Language Arts translate the new Common Core State Standards for Kindergarten through 12th grade into unit maps that teachers can use to plan their year, craft their own more detailed curriculum, and create lesson plans. They were written by public school teachers for public school teachers and are available free of charge to anyone who would like to use them. The maps are flexible and adaptable, yet they address every standard in the CCSS. Any teacher, school, or district that chooses to follow the Common Core maps can be confident that they are adhering to the standards. The maps are undergoing revision based on suggestions received during a month-long public comment period conducted in the Fall of 2010. A 2011 edition of the maps will be released soon.
